Abstract
Background Elderly women suffer in developing countries, rural more because of various reasons. It is essential that adolescents, young are aware and help. Objectives To know awareness, perceptions of rural adolescents, young about health problems of elderly women, possible help by them, place of health care. Material Methods After institute’s ethics committee’s approval, information was collected from adolescents, young (20-34 years), randomly included, minimum 10 from each village, 1500 study subjects, 144 adolescent girls, 138 boys, 614 young women, 604 men of tribal communities of 100 villages of hilly forestry region. Results All 138 adolescent boys, students, had scratchy awareness of some problems, 26.8% vision, 23.9% hearing, 19.6% dental, 14.5% gynecological, 8.0% hypertension, 7.2% diabetes. Of 144 girls students, 27.1% talked about vision, 24.3% hearing, 20.1% dental, 14.6% gynecological, 7.6% hypertension, 6.3% diabetes. All 614 young women, 604 men had some awareness, 23.3% said vision, 19.2% hearing, 18.6% dental, 8.5% gynecological, 15.8% hypertension, 14.7% diabetes. Total 24% men said vision, 20.2% hearing, 18.6% dental, 8.9% gynecological, 14.7 % hypertension, 13.2% diabetes. When asked about help, 18.1% boys said reach transport, 22.5% during walking, 16.7% meals, 26.1% reaching hospital, 16.7% bringing medicines, 18.8% girls said reach transport, 22.9% during walking, 16% meals, 20% reaching hospital, 17.4% bringing medicines, 19% men said reach transport, 18.9% during walking, 15.9% meals, 25% reaching hospital 21.2% bringing medicines, 21.2% women said reach transport, 26.1% during walking, 17.1% meals, 18.4% reaching hospital, 17.3% bringing medicines. About place of health care, 50% girls said government hospitals, 29.2% private, 20.8% quacks, 50.7% boys said government hospitals, 26.8% private, 22.5% quacks, 49.2% men said government hospitals, 24.8% private, 26% quacks, 46.9% women said government hospitals, 27.7% private, 25.4% quacks.
